The holiday goodness is fully loaded at the Curtisian. Witness:

On Saturday, the Curtisian was the site of much holiday revel. Luckily Ezra wasn’t singing “When Doves Cry”–as he is now as I write this. You should see his face, people. Here’s a more palatable version of Ezra goofiness, party style.

Fall Day

Today we raked a ton of leaves… we have something like 17 yard bags full of leaves waiting at the curb. Since we live on a corner at the bottom of a hill, it seems like everything just descends on our yard and the surrounding sidewalks. Yes (brace yourself), there was a whole lotta rakin’ goin’ on. (Ouch)

It was a nice day for it. A sweet older man passed me on the sidewalk while I was raking away, and he said, “this will keep you busy.” I smiled and noticed that he was wearing a Skidmore cap. So I mentioned that I went to Skidmore, and he said his granddaughter is a junior there. Then he got into a parked car on the street. A few minutes later, two women–apparently his wife and daughter or daughter-in-law–came over to the car. He must have told them about our brief conversation, because the younger woman came right over and chatted with me about Skidmore. It’s so infrequent that I have spur of the moment chats with relative strangers. Most people walking by just sort of try not to make eye contact. It was really nice!
