Where there’s the smell of smoke, there’s been a fire
Yesterday I took the train down to New York to stay with Ez for a few days while he’s in town for work. He met me at Penn Station and we made our way back to the hotel, where we found a bit of confusion by the elevators and a rather nasty smell. In the hallway outside our room on the 6th floor, the smell persisted. The Starbucks on the first floor was closed, and putting two and two together, we thought maybe there had been a fire.
It seems that the hotel is still functioning except for the restaurant (and probably the Starbucks).

That is crazy! Was your stuff in there? If so & it smells like smoke, you need to have them pay for your cleaning.
The smoke does not seem to have gotten from the hallway into the rooms. Also, the fire was around 3:30pm yesterday, and Terri didn’t get in until 8pm. I was in the office just down Lexington near Grand Central station, but my stuff was in the room, and it doesn’t even smell. In fact, when I went back to the hotel from the office at around 7pm, it didn’t smell in the lobby.
That place is bad news — a firetrap with dangerous stairwells! Don’t tell me New York isn’t dangerous.
If you are still in NYC, don’t forget to check in with Kel and Paul. When I told them that you both may be in the city, they hoped that you could arrange some time together (however brief).
Enjoy! Congrats to dear Ez!
We were only in NYC for a couple of days and had a pretty crazy schedule while we were there. Ez will be down there from time to time for work until his Boston office opens, and we may be back down to NY around our anniversary. We’d love to see Kelly and Paul if we can. I’ll check Ezra’s schedule!
Glad you’re safe and that it was dealt with quickly. Any other fun NYC stories?
