		<description>Wow... It's crazy to me to realize that you haven't been in SC since 1998.  Anyway, yes... Maybe it's just me and things are not as I see them, but it seems like Schlow is still an important part of the town--busy and valued.  I always felt like it was when I lived there.  If I have kids, a town with a thriving public library is the kind of place where I want them to grow up.</description>

		<description>Yea libraries!  I haven't been back to State College since 1998, but I am so glad to hear that this library is still thriving - particularly in a time when many public libraries really have to fight to keep their doors open.  If I remember correctly, Ed Rendell alotted a good chuck of cash in order to support libraries in PA.  As a librarian and archivist I know how hard it is to justify the importance of libraries to the people with the money to endow them.  Unless they have had a meaningful experience in one, they cannot grasp the relevance. It's up to the library staff to get that point across and it ain't easy when you are competing for dollars.</description>
