Ladytron Report

Last night Ezra and I saw Ladytron and the French Kicks at the Paradise.  I enjoyed the show quite a bit, though I was definitely focused on trying to get pictures this time–which was a bit of a challenge for a variety of reasons (dim and ever-changing lights and lots of equipment in my face being the biggest).

I really liked the French Kicks.  I’d only heard a few of their songs before, but I think they’ve now officially won me over.  Last night I thought they seemed like a cross between Spoon and The Postal Service, but I think I like them better than either of those bands–maybe if I listened to their records I’d decide that’s a bizarre comparison.  Anyway, they’re good stuff.  I see record shopping in my future.

The show was sold out and the crowd seemed pretty pumped for Ladytron.  Their set was about what I expected–good and dancey, though I somehow thought it would be louder and more of a wash of sound as the M83 show I saw at the Paradise was.  Still, it was good fun.

So in all your picture taking, I think you missed the distinct pleasure of getting hit by the enormous fluffy hair of the boy behind us who was flailing around and yelling “I LOVE YOU LADYTRON!”. I called him “the freewheelin’ bob dylan” to myself, because he looked like that era dylan.

I did feel a rustling at my back, but I chose to ignore!

I think the one you had in your head this morning was “Soft Power”.
