A Boring Super Bowl, eh?

Well, it sure seems like a lot of people didn’t think it was so boring (click here).
Betty Friedan Dies

Lately I have been thinking–and getting a bit angry–about how marginalized and “wacko-ized” feminism has become. If it wasn’t totally mainstream before, it’s now largely discredited or somehow quaint. That pisses me off. I haven’t examined the whole thing so carefully yet that I feel like I can say exactly what the problem is or what to do about it, but:
I was annoyed to read that stilletto heels are supposedly coming back into fashion.
I was disappointed and a bit outraged to read the Globe magazine’s “Coupling” feature a few weeks back that basically said that any couple that doesn’t have children isn’t really happy. Who was the woman who wrote it to make such a suggestion? And what the hell decade am I living in? And for that matter–where?
So when I read a few moments ago that Betty Friedan just died, I had the feeling that I’ve been having about a lot of other recent deaths… She won’t live to see some of the crap that’s going on, and maybe she wouldn’t have wanted to see it.
Friday again

I’m posting again, and I might post yet again later. It’s just one of the wonders of having a blog and a Friday simultaneously.
Maybe it’s also the grayness and my tiredness. For some reason I woke up around 2:30 last night and couldn’t get back to sleep. I was quite tired and didn’t want to move, but I felt a bit thirsty. I went to the bathroom twice and finally did get a drink, but I don’t think I fell asleep again–really asleep–until maybe 5:00AM or later. So it’s been a slow, sort of fun day. There’s something fun about being functional, yet not totally awake–or today there is. Maybe it’s because I went to the gym and had a big workout this morning. Big sleepy workouts lead to cozy wackiness on gray Friday afternoons, I guess.
Well, back to wacky work.
Rain makes me think

OK, so maybe not connected thoughts, but here goes…
It can’t already be February, and yet yesterday was Ezra’s birthday and it was good. I find it funny that a groundhog told us we have more winter to come. Except for a few weeks in December, it seems like we haven’t had any yet.
The rain would be sort of poetic today, if it were April–or if it were snow.
I’m jealous of all those people in the Midwest/Midsouth (if that’s not a term, it should be) and Europe who will get to see Andrew Bird soon. I find myself hypothesizing about why he’s playing there and not here, but that’s just ridiculous. I guess I must enjoy his live shows, eh?
