Re: closet metalhead: don't forget Motorhead. The ACE OF SPADES! THE ACE OF SPADES!

While I obviously would never have gone to the festivities without you (nor would I have known about them), it was kind of a kick. I mean, you know in your head that they're regular people, but it's always fun to see people in bands, especially bands that play big venues, hanging out at clubs like regular people. Like when we found ourselves standing next to Mary Hansen of Stereolab at their opening act.

The chic, ethnically diverse hipster clientele of the Middlesex when we first got there definitely made me feel like I was in a casting call for a Heineken ad.

Gail seems like sort of a full-time fan; not just of Interpol, but of U2 and other bands. She follows them around, takes tons of pictures of them, etc. And the way she was talking about them with her friend after the after party then made me feel a little bit like I was listening to an episode of This American Life. She was *extremely* nice though, and a strong personality, and you would not have met the band without her. If we would have hung around longer, I think she would have continued to give you the contents of her purse, item by item, every few minutes.
