Snow

The first snow of the season fell last Friday as Ezra and I were leaving Boston for PA. I love snow… The ground is still a little white, and during the day the light reflecting off of the snowy bushes and ground brightens up the house.

Antique Christmas postcards

Grr… Lost this post the first time I tried it. Let’s try this again…

Over the weekend Ezra and I made a short trip to State College. While we were there, we went to an antiques co-op where I sometimes find things that I like. We found lots of goodies this time, including many old Christmas postcards–most from 1905-1925. I love that stuff. I love the style of the art, the greetings (which range from sweet to just odd), and the messages on the back are so great. Here’s one example:

Since it’s tough to read, here’s a transcript:

“Dear Grace. Received your last letter was glad to hear from you. Did not answer as I have been very busy. Do not be angry. We are on our way to Youngstown, our furniture is gone ahead of us. Will see you whenever you go next. Don’t forget to write to me when I am out there. Will send you a card when I am out. How are you and brother. Wish you both a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. From Hermine and George”

That’s not the best one, but I am saving those for later… (squirrelly grin).

Let’s hear it for cats

I can’t help it. Suki is sitting here, totally draped over my lower arm as I type (believe me, it’s a challenge!), and she seems just totally thrilled with life. She’s purring and keeps looking up at me with that cat-kissy face.

I’m such a sucker.

A retro vibe that I welcome. This band just signed to everyone’s favorite label, Matador.
