Two Piggie Friends

I only have one Toot and Puddle book, but I love them. You really must see them. They’re just too cute. Yes, I love them all for myself (no wee kiddies around, really–just me!). Here’s the cover of the book I have, I’ll Be Home for Christmas. It’s very sweet!

What can I say? Their expressions are priceless, and the stories are just so nice. I’m a sucker for nice. I don’t want to give too much away. Basically, these two pigs are best friends, and they live together in Woodcock Pocket. One likes to travel and the other likes to stay at home, and as the title suggests, getting home to one’s piggie friend is the main gist of this particular book. I’m thinking perhaps I should check out some of the other titles as well. (The author’s name is Holly Hobbie, for cryin’ out loud!)

And yes, I am starting to think about the holidays. This should be no surprise to most of you!

Even this hard-hearted old codger thinks Toot & Puddle are heartwarming. :)

I just bought this book for my 3-year-old niece, based on your recommendation. Thanks! I also got her a bunch of weird and wonderful Maira Kalman (http://www.mairakalman.com/children%27sbooksa.html) books in an attempt to introduce some Dada into her golf-obsessed, Republican upbringing.

Thanks for the Maira Kalman link. Anyone involved in the New Yorkistan New Yorker cover has to be brilliant!
